Fun game but impossible to continue past mid-levels without spending $$. The graphics and play action are good and it is a fun game however, the makers have installed so many extras, pop ups and mini games that it is distracting and very annoying if you just want to play golf. The makers seem to think this adds to the game but it has greatly decreased the quality and simplicity of the game. Lots of ads also, some of them extremely long.

Every time you watch an ad you get kicked out!!! Most of the time you have to watch an ad 5x to get the reward!!!! Let's not forget that you center your shot and let go only for the bar to keep moving and screw your shot!!!! Now I remember why I uninstalled this game a long time ago!!!! I will finish the tournament and I'm uninstalling!!! This is ridiculous!!!!!

It's actually a well designed golf simulation. But of all the golf games I play, this one has the most unexplainable characteristics that, oddly, or magically, change slightly. So that what should be two of the same, but separate, identical shots, to then have completely different results, comparatively. I can't even begin to attempt listing out the numerous ways in which your play is manipulated in various manners. Well, I could. But I'd need a lot more space than this.

It is a fun game against other players. However, when your just slightly off the perfect mark the ball will fly off somewhere else entirely or stay on target who knows how that was programmed. The ball will stay that it'll bounce onto the fairway, but instead will go straight into the rough with a perfect shot. Don't even get me started on long putts.

OMG pop ups and ads are so much worse now. Spent several minutes of being forced to close pop ups that I didn't have time to play a hole of golf. BEFORE you can golf you have to close spin wheels, dice rolling, and other nonsense games. By the time you've done that you've lost interest or time to golf. Now the pauses after you hit a ball are so long. OMG they added more nonsense - reduced to 1 star but it's a fun game if you have all that extra time to waste.

The developers have made everything about this game into how much money you spend. Tournaments used to be fun with good rewards. Now if you want the reward you have to hole-in-one every shot. Courses have ridiculous obstacles that can only be achieved if you buy the clubs in their packs. The reward chests are nothing but the basic clubs. Don't waste your time watching the videos for an extra reward. It is always a useless reward. All about the $$$!!! Advice: Find a better golf game.

Poorly developed. How does a ball suddenly stop rolling down a hill?? Why would your ball slice to the right when it's blowing 9 mph to the left. You get in touch with them and you get a bunch of double talk with no answers to your questions. They know they have issues but don't care. I've played on and off for 3 years and the same issues remain. Plus the players names haven't change and they haven't progressed. Guys I played against a year ago are still at the same levels? Makes you wonder.

Downgraded my review to 2 ⭐️ because, like many apps, the further you (try to) get along, the more ridiculous and frustrating it becomes. They really need to improve the structure of this game. The graphics are poor. It's gameplay is very inconsistant. Mostof the challenges can't be completed unless you buy certain/specific items. But definitely don't waste money on this thinking it'll help you get further in the game.

There has been some improvements since I first started playing. Still very missed matched vs play in Kingdom, you get on a roll and then BAM! You have to square off against some crazy player with huge ranking or a cheater with outlandish stats that you'll never beat even on your best day. Or possibly it's a cpu player. Happens ever single time when you're 100/100 trying for a promotion. Really pisses a guy off. Thanks GR.

I agree with almost everyone who's has left a review... inconsistent wind speeds, not only that if you try to make a shot using past performance..it's not the same. It's a money game and that's all they want...have seen no improvements in three years.... however it's still fun to play...as long as you realize the house always wins, and if you won't pay...you won't excel

Background band music that starts playing randomly and the only way to stop that music is by closing the the game or the screen altogether. And when I reopen the app that music will start playing sometimes after a few seconds into the app or minutes later when in the middle of playing the game. Is very weird but also very frustrating. It's always the same music. It sounds like a band.

This is an update. Game has changed over time. Now it takes too much to upgrade clubs. Too many bots not enough real players. Game selects players that are not on your level to play against. Hard to be competitive when your clubs are level 9 and the opponents clubs are level 12. Every thing cost so much to improve your game. Not satisfied with game play at all.

This can be a great fun game. The issue is it's clearly a pay to win game. The matching will often pair you with another person who's clubs are clear 4 to 5 times better than yours when doing tournaments. At that point you'll never even have a chance at winning making the game about how much you spent versus actual skill while playing. Discouraged about continuing to play.

I want to give this a better rating, but there's one thing for me that ruins an experience. I was mid match and landed next to a tree. My next turn I line my shot up, guideline shows a clear shot, I can see in ground view that the tree is to my right, but my ball still bounces off an invisible wall screwing my shot. Collision models need fixed for trees.

One of the most inconsistent golf games I've ever played. After you go so far in the game you play against guys that can destroy you and there is no fair game play, kinda sucks! It is a fun game up to a point but when your clubs are level 3 and your opponent is level 7+ it takes the fun and game play out of it. It's more of a pay to play game. NEW.....since writing this review I've lost 9 straight games against guys twice as strong as my clubs....pissed off much boys?

Didn't play for a long time, and thought I would give it another shot. It just takes too long to play. Definitely not a good game to just open and play real quick. Everything takes forever with popups to buy stuff, downloading courses, opponents that take the entire time limit for every shot. Not fun when most of the time you're frustrated.

Usually you play against someone on your level, whether it's a challenge, kingdom, or stage play. But it's been 3 times that I get to level 4 in a challenge, such as festive green challenge, and the players have Level 7 and 8 clubs compared to my level 3 of the same clubs. It's impossible for me to win a game at level 4 because of this. It isn't fair for me to play against players at my level, and beat them, only to go up against these Leven 7 and 8 club, players. Needs to be fixed.

Absolutely a waste of both money and time. Developers if you don't spend alot of money. Have you by level 11. Out clubbed and matched. Not to mention giving up days of your life watching endless ads to increase your level of play. Only to have half the ads crash the game and rob you of whatever so called that was promised. Truly wish I had every minute back of my life I wasted playing this one. 😡

Fun at first, but as you get more skilled and advance into higher levels, it becomes obvious that the bots decide who will win if you don't spend $. You can shoot the exact same shot under the same conditions twice in a row and get different results. Made it to level 13k and continued to play for hours and couldn't get any farther against their fake bots. Uninstalled.

This game is very annoying. It has you pick a ball path line, and even when you hit it "perfect" by the game standards, it often shoots off course! The wind is also very inconsistent. When you depend on the consistency but it sporadically let's you down, it's hard to enjoy the game. I'm an avid golfer, and this game irritates me more than the real game does. But, just like the real thing, I'm an idiot and continue playing. Just hate losing credit to game glitches and flaws.

Game itself is stellar demanding skill,brains discipline and it keeps on demanding . Addicting. On the other side this game and its algorithms extorts great amounts of money for gems,clubs ,golf balls. WAy too much for pictures of balls!!! Etc. And the games within the games like rolling the dice and spinning the wheel seem to detract from playing .Not to mention the fact that playing the wheel is A semi fixed way of extorting more coins. Desired shards only come on last or next to last spin.

Good game for a while, but the physics and wind are wildly inconsistent. Each hole seems to have it's own gravitational constant and air density. Fine, but if those things affect my shot display them on the screen. Also, totally agree with other comments on special challenges. Don't even bother. There are so many whales in this game.

It can be fun, but by the time you get to stage 7 You'll be very annoyed with the number of obstacles that you can't even make it to the green with mostly in the draw matches the guideline that lies when it's too close to the trees even with a perfect shot then the inconsistencies in the functionality I've been hitting in to the wind and had my ball go flying across the green like I was going with the wind a number of times killing games that's what makes me want to stop playing

I used to think this game was great, easy to play great prizes and all, then the algorithm started cheating me making me miss shot I've made thousands of times, glitching and freezing in the middle of my turn so my opponent can win even though they're no match for me. And considering how much money I've spent on this game you would at least think it would play fair, hell I get about 10 sec less then everyone else when it's my turn to shoot. Got me feeling like I should have never downloaded this

UPDATE: December 2023: I decided to try the game again. It loads faster BUT, there is no explanation of the purpose of the chests and the club rewards. I have the different clubs, and there are no available upgrades. So why are they 'bonuses?' Coins are easy to collect but basically useless unless you can upgrade clubs. Forget getting 💎 unless you buy them or play other games to get a few. So still just 2 stars.

Garbage game. Lower lvls seem ok but after progressing up in the game (rank) when you have reconn issues each match, then go to closest to pin wins - and the server disconnects you letting your opponent win everytime is the worst. This game is a moneyhole. Best advice, do not download it, ads, ads, ads. Conn issues galore. Did find out after deleting and reloading app - conn. issue is still bad. Found out you can have too many types of balls and that keeping minimun of types will help.

Ive been playing various golf games for about 3 years. Golf Rival, by far, is the best. Generous rewards, challenging holes, solid game play, super addictive and quality graphics. Sometimes i question the physics but overall, it the best golf game in the play store. Dont waste your time installing other apps. There are a few negatives but there certainly is no comparison. Thanks Golf Rival... you got me hooked now for a few years!!!

Overall could be great, but once you hit a certain level, it forces you to spend $ or you're no longer competitive. Ads are horrendous. 30 second ads that require you to 'x' out on multiple screens(sometimes 3+) to get off Ad and recieve 'award' (few coin or gems). Gets you on both sides w/ having to watch 6-8min of ads each play or spend $50-$100 for basket of enhancements. Takes the fun away from what could be a great game I would purchase if no ads/purchase req'd.

Game works well, doesn't freeze up or glitch, but also doesn't show the opponents shot in a draw, and prizes are nothing for non money spenders, definitely a spending game. Is a shame the game is like this, if you don't spend tons of money you can't compete against the bought clubs and balls they get, 2 to 3 hundred yard difference, and you can't win the equipment without spending.

As soon as you get to a certain level it becomes clear that playing without paying leads to loss after loss. Your opponents will have clubs 3x the level of your's, abs even the ones that don't can magically make 300 yard driver shots go in the hole for an Albatross. It's an algorithm set to make the most money possible, end of story. Welcome to internet phone gaming.

You quickly realize that the game is a huge pay to play. You always see how the other person is going to shoot, exactly the way they think, and you see every single click they make. It ruins the game. So the other person just does what you do, goes into a draw, and to break the tie, it's whoever can hit the ball closest to the pin. So whoever has the best and most upgraded driver. Pay to win. Not great. Just put the players in a waiting room while the other makes their play.

This game is alright. Graphics aren't as great as others & it's a bit cartoonish, but it's still fun. The environments get harder the more you progress, so it may seem easy at first but it does get more challenging. (& for The Love Of God, stop making it so hard to upgrade clubs & get decent balls to compete with! So annoying!)

Not sure I am playing others or bots. I have been playing for years and I go back and fourth on levels what I am seeing is players on level one that I played two years ago that are still at level 1 but I have played that player on level 19 when there is no way they should be at level 19 with 25 trophies. You have to spend way to much money to keep up with others if you slack off and dont play that much Game is not worth the time or money

It is a fun game in a good time killer. My biggest complaint is when you try to play in special events and special matches, they always match me up with someone that spends money. Meaning they have the best clubs that you have to spend money to unlock and upgrade. Granted. You can unlock them and upgrade them without spending money but it takes a very very very long time. I get matched up against these people that spend money and I don't spend money so it is an unfair match

So far, so good. I really dig this game. I dont get it, I have NEVER once had an add on my phone or iPad. You are not required to spend any money, but if you do, then you get rewarded with extras. Dont expect everything for free. If you want to stay competitive without spending a lot or any money, I would recommend upgrading all your clubs w/ their in-game currency that you win or earn. I buy the elite pass bc you get way more rewards like new clubs and golf balls w/ abilities. Well worth it.

Good game. Graphics are awesome. Lot's of different things to do. To many ads especially when the crash and I have to watch 4 to 5 ads just to clàim 1 thing. We don't get enough diamond's either. Us poor ppl can't afford to spend hard earned cash on games. Other than that it's cool. Oh yeah, I'm on wifi with great connection Js. Thank you

Game is pretty solid. Mostly consistent game play. Good match making. One suggestion would be to have an option to lock in a club when aiming. I have had many instances where I cannot adjust to the wind properly due to it switching to a different club while im aiming. That is the only thing I have had much issue with. Other wise it is a good time killer with good incentives for free to play players. Good for a quick play or to game out for a while.

It is a very amusing game. If you want to be entertained and have fun, go for it. It is not like those 'close to reality' golf games like WGT and others. Golf Rival is more like 'inspired by golf', and it has a cartoonish feel and looks to it. The only downside, and it is an annoying one, are the unstoppable offers to buy stuff. All the pop-ups take away a little bit the fun of playing. I really enjoy GR though and I feel like you will enjoy it too.

I really enjoy this game with one exception. If the match ends in a draw I wish that there were another option other than closest to the hole. That is definitely a bad way to lose a match. I've had it both ways but would prefer another option. Great game but I wish that when you lose a shootout I the Kingdom, you would lose lesser points.

You must pay. If you don't pay to upgrade clubs you will never win past the newbie levels. Players that choose to pay have such a huge advantage making impossible for non-paying players to win and advance in the game. If you do choose to pay you can easily defeat non-paying players. Matches between two paying players are a waste of time because they almost always result in a draw, essentially making the whole game nothing more than "closest to the pin". Open your wallet and good luck.
